Girl Brutally Beaten as Security Guards Merely Watch - Video

A bus tunnel security video shows a 15-year-old girl, Aiesha Steward-Baker, being brutally beaten while three unarmed security guards for the Seattle Metro Transit appear to be merely watching making no effort to intervene.

According to the Seattle-King County Metro Transit that is exactly what the guards are supposed to be doing, even though one guard apparently cannot keep himself from intervening when he is shown trying to shoo the female perpetrator away.

Unarmed security guards with Metro Transit are trained and under orders not to intervene physically when such violent situations arise in the course of their duties. They are, instead, trained to call it in to 911, which the guards in this incident did.

The first video is one from YouTube which shows the encounter pretty much in its entirety:

The public outcry over the video has prompted Seattle’s Metro Transit and King County authorities to remark that they wished the guards had broken up the fight even though they are directed not to do so.

"We are very disappointed in what people see in that video," Metro Transit General Manager Kevin Desmond said. "It was absolutely unacceptable."

Baker’s lawyer, James Bible, is playing the race card. "If this young lady had had blond hair and blue eyes and told police 'These black kids are following me,' the response would have been different," Bible said Friday.

Baker said she asked Seattle police for help several times at a shopping center and Macy's in the hour before the Jan. 28 attack, but her pleas were rebuffed.

However, the Seattle Times reports that friends and relatives of the four arrested have said the situation has been blown out of proportion. They said the two girls have fought often over the past two years, and that Baker has usually won.

The video has prompted both King County Metro Transit and the Seattle police each to instigate a review of the video to determine whether any policies need changing.

DC Cop Draws Gun Over Snow Ball Fight

An off duty Washington, DC, policeman draws his gun when local kids pelt his private vehicle with snowballs.

The policeman, who identified himself as Detective Baylor, stopped his vehicle when the kids threw snowballs at it. Upon exiting his SUV, they then pelted him with snowballs.That appears to be when he drew his gun.

Washington police are now investigating the incident, and it is being reported internationally, with reports even as far away as Australia. Some of the videos have gone viral.

The second video clearly shows that, after Detective Baylor had appeared to have holstered his weapon, a uniformed police officer arrived on the scene and this second officer also has his gun drawn and is holding it down by his right side.

Eventually the second officer also holsters his weapon. Detective Baylor does arrest one young man, and during the arrest the crowd shouts for Baylor to release him.

The second video is a CBS version and is shot from a different angle:

One of the snowball fight participants can be heard telling the uniformed officer that Detective Baylor is "a moron for bringing a gun to a snowball fight."

At that point Detective Baylor confronts that same snowballer by walking up to the young man getting right in his face. Fortunately nothing else happens at that point and Detective Baylor backs off.

How Texting While Driving Ruins Lives

It seems that virtually all age groups are texting, so all age groups are texting and driving too. The following video graphically shows why texting while driving is illegal in 19 states in the US and will eventually be illegal in all states

The video was made for and with the assistance of the Gwent Police Department, located in Tredegar, Gwent County, South Wales, which is approximately 150 miles west of London in the United Kingdom.

The video is a trailer for a 30 minute film on texting and driving called "COW" that was commissioned by the Gwent Police Department and was produced and directed by Peter Watkins-Hughes, who is an award winning former BBC producer. Hughes also lectures at the Documentary Film & Television department at the Newport School of Art, Media and Design in Wales.

The video was released in July, 2009, and immediately went viral world-wide. Unfortunately, many teens have commented on YouTube, where the video is hosted, that teens click the vid off after aboout 30 seconds. Hopefully, more of them will watch the entire video, and, just as importantly, perhaps their parents will watch it too.

YouTube states that the age groups most watching the video are females between 45-54 and males between 35-54, so at least the parents seem to be watching.

Fatal Police Shoot Out Caught on Dashcam

Kansas City, Missouri, police chief, James Corwin, released a video of a fatal shoot out between two police officers and a suspect who had driven his SUV into a tree. The video was filmed September 6th, at 7:45 PM by the dashcams of the police cruisers of the two officers involved.

The video was released today because the Jackson County, Missouri, Grand Jury ruled that the police actions shown in this video were justified.

The first video is an Associated Press raw video of the incident:

The video shows the suspect casually raising his arm to shoot at the officers, as if it was an action he did every day. Although the demeanor of the suspect might suggest he was under the influence, a tox screen of the perpetrator showed he had alcohol and marijuana in his bloodstream, but nothing else that might explain his bizarre behavior.

The two veteran Kansas City police officers exchanged dozens of shots with the perpetrator during the climax to what seemed to be a run-of-the-mill fender bender police call.

"It is a wake-up call," said Mike Perne, the night shift captain on duty that evening. "It was just such a routine call."

The second video is a report from a local TV station, KY3:

The second video shows a slightly different version of the beginning of the incident.The perpetrator, 36-year-old Exae Chavez-Gutierrez, died in the hail of bullets rained down upon him.

The first officer on the scene, who is a veteran of nearly 30 years on the force, was faced with a suspect who only wanted to shoot, not to talk.

Officer Eric Turner, who has 10 years on the force, was the back up officer who arrived on the scene just as the gunfire began.

Chavez-Gutierrez continued to point his weapon at the police officers even after he had been shot and had fallen to the ground, which explains why the officers continued to fire such a barrage of bullets at him.

Neither officer was wounded during the incident, and both have now returned to work.

We may never know why Chavez-Gutierrez acted as he did because nothing else stuck out to explain his behavior.

Chief Corwin commented on the shooting in his blog, saying, "I am releasing this video to show you the dangers KCPD officers face daily. We also are committed to being transparent. No officer ever wants to kill another human being, but as you can see in the video, sometimes they are left with no choice."

Shocking Story - Cop Tasers 10-year-old

Pardon the pun but this one's a bit of a shocker! Believe it or not but an Ozark, Arkansas, police officer tasered a 10-year-old girl because she would not take a shower.

It's a story making news worldwide. Officer Dustin Bradshaw was called to the home by the girl's mother because of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival Bradshaw found the girl curled up on the floor, screaming. In his police report Bradshaw stated that the girl screamed, kicked and resisted when her mother tried to get her into the shower before bed.

"Her mother told me to tase her if I needed to," Bradshaw continued.

Bradshaw tried to take the 10-year-old into custody, however, the girl's behavior quickly changed and she soon was "violently kicking and verbally combative." He further stated that the girl kicked him in the groin.

That was when he tased her. Bradshaw said in his report that he delivered "a very brief drive stun to her back."

Ozark Mayor Vernon McDaniel said that the girl was not injured, and she is now residing at the Western Arkansas Youth Shelter in Cecil, Arkansas.

However, McDanial isn't sure if Officer Bradshaw acted appropriately. McDaniel asked the Arkansas State Police to investigate the incident, but they have declined to do so. Now McDaniel has asked the FBI to do so.

"People here feel like that he made a mistake in using a Taser, and maybe he did, but we will not know until we get an impartial investigation," said McDaniel.

Ozark Police Chief Jim Noggle, who said that Bradshaw is not facing disciplinary action, also claimed that Tasers are safe.

"We didn't use the Taser to punish the child — just to bring the child under control so she wouldn't hurt herself or somebody else," said Noggle.

Noggle said the officer might have accidentally broken the child's arm or leg if he had forcibly tried to handcuff her. Chief Noggle actually managed to say that with a straight face.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has reported that the girl's father, Anthony Medlock, said the girl has emotional problems but she was not armed and should not have been tasered.

"My daughter does not deserve to be tased and be treated like an animal," said Medlock. He and the girl's mother are divorced and the mother has sole custody.
